During the winter months, the schools of Kabul are closed.
Playing kites are a popular there. Kites are only interest that Amir and Baba
shared together. At Kabul, there is a kite-fighting tournament. Baba brings
Amir and Baba to Saifo to get the kite. Hassan was the best kite runner among
them.
Amir play a kite fight and he won as his dad watches him.
Amir plans to present his kite to Baba as a trophy. Amir was looking for Hassan
to take the kite and compete with him.
They started to beat Hassan as Amir was hiding behind the wall, he is
too afraid to come. Later, Hassan met Hassan and pretending that he doesn’t
know what happened. Hassan gives Amir the kite. Then Amir gives the kites to
Baba.
For a long time, Amir barely saw Hassan. Ali came and asks
if Amir knows what happened the night of the kite fight, Amir didn’t
replied. Baba showed up a lot of
interest in Amir and he brings him to the movies with his loads of friends
going along. Hassan tried to be friendly with Amir again, but Amir ignored him.
Amir asks his dad if he could have new servants. Amir tries to start a
pomegranate fight with Hassan, but Hassan rejected him.
Baba held a thirteenth
birthday party for Amir. Amir received many gifts.
Amir doesn’t want to live with Hassan anymore, he make up a
story that Hassan stole his birthday money and gift to Baba. Hassan admits that
he steal to protect Amir. Amir knows that Hassan knew that Amir was hiding
behind the wall instead of helping him. Ali tells Baba that they’re leaving, then
Baba beg them to stay but it doesn’t work.
